Johnson bemoans deadly errors
Platinum Stars coach Cavin Johnson lamented his men’s showings during a 4-2 loss to Cape Town City FC at Moruleng Stadium on Thursday night.

Johnson is of the view that some of the goals scored Thabo Nodada, Lehlohonolo Majoro, Aubrey Ngoma and Judas Moseamedi for the visitors were due to the errors committed by his players. Ennocent Mkhabela and Henrico Botes scored for Dikwena.

“I thought three were really bad error goals. Goal number two, three and four were really bad from my players. At the same we knew they are ultra defensive. We knew they will sit, wait and they will hit you. Their players run forward and the ball bounce to them, they will get inside,” said Johnson.

“I thought the players made technical errors. They were real school boy errors, where you are alone in the middle of the pitch and you need to go wide because that’s where our strength is. Our strength is on our flanks and we don’t go there often enough. We don’t play there often enough. You saw Kodisang got the ball wide and went inside and we got a penalty. We missed the penalty but these things happen in football.”

Johnson says there’s a need for his players to take heed to instructions for the side to bounce back.

“When you get beaten like we were beaten, you ask yourself, what is the drawing board for? Is it to draw pictures or do you listen? Do you listen from one training session to the game? Thursday night we didn’t listen,” said Johnson.
Johnson will be hoping his charges are on top of their game when they shift focus to the CAF Confederation Cup, where they will host Ivory Coast side AS Tanda at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace on Sunday afternoon.

Dikwena lost 2-0 in Abidjan in the first leg. Johnson is confident that Dikwena will overturn the deficit to progress to the next stage of the Confed Cup.
