Dikwena not pressing panic buttons
Platinum Stars coach Cavin Johnson says there’s no need to press panic buttons.

Dikwena, who are on position 11 with 26 points, suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Ajax Cape Town on Sunday. The performance by Johnson’s men was below par. Despite the uninspiring performance Johnson believes his charges will come back strong.

“A lot of people and clubs are panicking but we can’t take it away from them. We are going to try and put our best foot forward and not panic. We can’t press panic buttons. There are five games to go. There are a lot of points to fight for. There are 15 points to fight for. We need 10 of those points in order to be safe but we need to fight for more than 10 points,” Johnson tells Platinumstars.com.

Dikwena’s next assignment is away to Absa Premiership log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns at the Lucas Moripe Stadium this coming Thursday. Johnson says his men will give their all to make sure they get something out of the game against the African champions.

“Remaining games for us are more than cup finals. It’s a matter of life and death. That’s how we got to approach all the games. We need out fighting spirit back. We have got to come back to the party. We have got to find the positives. Hopefully we can put the best team we can in order to come back again,” said Johnson.

“We have got to pick up our socks and make sure that when we go to Sundowns we fight as hard as we can to come away with a point. We got to be cautious and try get away with a point because they are in the running to win the league again.”

Kickoff for Thursday’s match is 6pm.
